About
Lucia specialises in stories where David faces Goliath, crafting powerful narratives across crime, sci-fi, and action genres where underdogs rise against seemingly insurmountable odds. Drawn to heightened worlds with gritty undertones, Lucia writes narratives where moral compasses are tested and the powerless find their voice, blending emotional depth, wit, and provocative themes that elevate voices that are frequently overlooked.
A three-time Scottish BAFTA jury member, Lucia brings gravitas and depth to every project she undertakes. Her journey from journalism to screenwriting, enriched by training at the BBC Writers Academy and dual Masters degrees in TV and Radio Writing and French Literature, has shaped her distinctive narrative voice.
Whether writing for acclaimed crime series like Vera, Annika, The Marlow Murder Club and The Good Ship Murder, or breaking new ground with radio drama in This Thing of Darkness, she focuses on stories where justice hangs in the balance.
Lucia’s versatility isn’t limited to adult dramas and she’s equally at home writing for children. She’s worked numerous times with CBBC and CBeebies writing on JoJo & Gran Gran, which offered her a chance to celebrate her St Lucian heritage, Princess Mirror-Belle, Biff and Chip.
Away from the keyboard, Lucia finds inspiration in unexpected places. Her lifelong passion for ballet resulted in her signing up for lessons almost a decade ago. Since then, she has taken dance exams and performed in the IABF – an international ballet festival aimed at adult dancers.
Her distinct ability to balance complex themes with accessible storytelling has made her a compelling voice in British television, championing stories where the powerless fight back and justice prevails against all odds.
